Founded in 1978, Pine Ridge Vineyards is a young winery by Napa standards, but the quality is undeniable. Most noted for their Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Bordeaux blends, the craftsmanship and love is noticeable in every sip. They take great care during their harvest season, handpicking at night so the grapes as well as the workers don’t suffer in the heat of the day. The grape clusters are collected in small bins that hold only 25 pounds to reduce bruising and crushing, and sorting is done by hand to remove any trace of stem pieces. This attention to the smallest detail ensures all you get is the juice.

Though their wines are phenomenal, the views are stunning. Terraced hillsides of row after row of vines on the postcard perfect property are guarded by Joseph’s Coat roses. The roses serve more than just an aesthetic purpose. They are an early warning signal to any mildew and root eating pests and are unappetizing to deer which deter them from the grapes. Picnic tables on the terrace and a covered patio are a relaxing way to enjoy the view.

Tastings range from $20 for 5 signature wines to $75 for a full tour including their caves and wine and food pairing, and many offers in between. They also offer 4 different packages for their Cabernet Cave Dinner in the winery caves, a gorgeous venue for special group occasions like a rehearsal dinner or 25th year anniversary celebration.

Every Cabernet is outstanding, displaying intense flavors and impeccable fermentation management. Some of their other phenomenal wines include Dijon Clone Chardonnay, with its green apple and honey graham cracker hints, and the dark fruity blends of Tessitura (which means “texture” in Italian),  and Fortis, an “ultra-reserve” Bordeaux blend.

I highly recommended Pine Ridge Vineyards.
